Kettering University to Offer Fuel Cell Degree Programs
What started as a single course in fuel cell research and development has evolved into several soon-to-be-launched undergraduate programs at Kettering University. Beginning Fall 2004, a Fuel Cell Minor will be available to students of the Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, Environmental Chemistry, and Electrical Engineering Representative Degree Programs. These programs are designed to prepare current and future automotive manufacturing engineers for the hydrogen-powered economy. Funding for the development of the curriculum was partially supported by a $100,000 grant from NextEnergy, a non-profit corporation created by the State of Michigan to promote alternative energy research, development and commercialization. Kettering was one of four institutions to be awarded a curriculum development grant and is collaborating with Wayne State University, Lansing Community College and Lawrence Technological University to develop a statewide curriculum model.
